We have successfully installed & commissioned state of the art
Satellite Imagery display system (SIDS) using in-house developed SIDS software for IMD
at New Delhi HQ for automated capturing, conversion & dissemination of
INSAT & other satellite imageries on different nodes in real-time through Cable transmission.
Under this system INSAT real-time Images both Infra-red (IR) and Visible (VIS)
which are generated at regular intervals by IMD is logged
automatically by SIDS Server and the data is uploaded to the SIDS server.
The INSAT Data which is in proprietary VAX/ VMS format is then converted by
SIDS software into the universal TIF, BMP, JPEG format and stored on the
server.
Through the PAL output the digital data is converted to the analog
signal through the channel processors and modulators and further
transmitted to different nodes
within the India
Met. Department through help of co-axial cable. It helps the meteorologist
at IMD in different divisions to have access to latest INSAT imagery for
studying the same on their fingertips. The entire process is automated .
